Retirement beckons for Holdfast Bay CEO
After five years at the helm of the City of Holdfast Bay, Chief Executive Officer Roberto Bria has tendered his resignation.
Mr Bria will retire from full-time employment on 30 August 2024 after an extensive career in local government, including seven years at the City of Holdfast Bay.
“My decision to farewell Holdfast Bay is bittersweet. This is an excellent organisation, with passionate, skilled and dedicated staff who deliver excellent services for our community each and every day,” Mr Bria said.
“I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and enjoying the opportunities retirement will afford me.”
Mr Bria said he is immensely proud of all that has been achieved, in particular in the past five years.
“For me, there are several highlights, namely the strengthened relationship with the Kaura Nation, the redevelopment of Brighton Oval and the construction of the Minda Coast Park,” he said.
“This year, we have seen the completion of significant upgrades to Glenelg Oval and Margaret Messenger Reserve, the opening of the Kingston Park kiosk and work is set to begin on the Transforming Jetty Road, Glenelg project.”
Holdfast Bay Mayor Amanda Wilson thanked Mr Bria for his “tireless dedication to the City of Holdfast Bay”.
“With Roberto at the helm of administration we have started to build a city that our children will thrive in,” Mayor Wilson said.
“We have built the nationally award-winning recycling centre at Seaford, began the State’s first weekly FOGO kerbside bin collections, extended the Coast Park, built the kiosk at Kingston Park and much more.
“His commitment to staff, elected members and the community has always been positive and indefatigable.”
Mayor Wilson said Mr Bria has built a “strong and stable” leadership team that will continue to deliver and serve the community while a formal recruitment process is undertaken to fill the CEO position.
Mr Bria joined the City of Holdfast Bay in 2017 and was appointed CEO in 2019.
Prior to this, he held many leadership positions during his professional life at a range of organisations, including the Department of Education and Children’s Services, Health Workforce Australia and the Cancer Council of South Australia.
His career in local government has included working with Adelaide City Council and the City of Burnside.
