Get fit for free around Holdfast Bay
Get outside, get moving and put that spring back in your step this summer. Elevate your beach stroll into something a bit more strenuous ‑ be it a workout on our outdoor gym equipment, a hike up a hill, or fun with a ball. Best of all, it’s free!
Outdoor gym equipment
Get your muscles moving at one of our outdoor gyms that each boast a range of fitness equipment. You’ll find the gyms at Wigley Reserve in Glenelg, Brighton Oval and John Miller Reserve, Somerton Park.
Take a hike
Immerse yourself in nature and hit the slopes at our three gullies – Gilbertson, Pine and Barton. You’ll find Gilbertson Gully at Seacliff Park, and Pine and Barton gullies are close by at Kingston Park. Stairs and a designated walking path were recently constructed in Pine Gully, providing a connection between Pine Avenue down to Seacliff Beach. Barton Gully also has stairs that connect to the Kingston Park Coastal Reserve.
Have a ball
Shoot some hoops or have a hit of tennis. We have many publicly accessible tennis courts across the city that you can use without a booking and at no cost, on a shared basis. Or shoot some hoops with basketball courts available at Brighton Oval, Da Costa Reserve at Glenelg East, Wattle Reserve at Hove and John Miller Reserve at Somerton Park.
Step 1,2,3
Seacliff is the spot to go if you want to boost your daily step count. Do a few rounds of the Seacliff Stairs or the stairs that run alongside the Tjilbruke Monument at Kingston Park to get your heart pumping. You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the coastline once you reach the top. Or admire the colourful artwork which now adorns the Seacliff Zig Zag ramp, as you trek up and down.
