The Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic is South Australia’s largest open water swim and street festival. Held on the first Sunday in February annually since 2006.

SA's Largest open-water swimming event. The Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic is the largest fundraiser for the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. Events include 400m swims around Brighton Jetty, as well as the 1500m open water event.

Sunday kicks off at 7.30am with egg and bacon breakfasts and a Surf Boat Carnival, the Brighton Jetty Classic Street Festival offers music, entertainment, arts, TV personalities, sculptures, and market stalls.

Bring your family and beach bag by train, car, walk, or bike, and dine at one of the local establishments, the Brighton Surf Club bar, or at the many specialty food trucks. Be sure to join our family-friendly event.

Notice of Temporary Road Closures & Changes to Traffic Conditions

In order to ensure pedestrian safety the following road closures will be in place from 12pm Friday 31 January and will expire approx. 8:30pm Sunday 2 February 2025:

  • Esplanade Brighton, between Jetty Road and Beach Rd
  • Bindarra Road Brighton, between the Esplanade and Twining Ln

The following roads will also be closed to traffic from 10am Saturday 1 February and will expire approx. 3:30pm Sunday 2 February 2025:

  • Esplanade Brighton, between Jetty Rd and Dunluce Ave
  • Jetty Road, Brighton, between the Esplanade and Elm St
  • Gurrs Road, Brighton , between Jetty Rd and Dunluce Avenue (Local Traffic Only)
  • Yester Avenue Brighton, between Indra Tce and Athelney Ave (Local Traffic Only)

Tow Away Areas / No parking area:

Please note that in accordance with Road Traffic Act 1961, Section 40N, vehicles parked within temporary road closures or within temporary No Parking and No Stopping areas will be towed away. Signage will be displayed ahead of the event noting the affected areas. Fees may apply to collect a vehicle from the compound.

Notice is given that pursuant to Section 26 of the Harbors and Navigation Act 1993, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport has granted an Aquatic Activity Licence to the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club to conduct an Open Water Swim event on the below areas of water as follows;

At Brighton extending from the alignment of King Street, Brighton, South to the alignment of Young Street, Seacliff and extending 300 metres seaward from the shoreline.

For safety reasons, vessels, and persons other than those participating in the events are prohibited from entering the above area of water between 6am and 5pm on Sunday 2 February 2025.
