If you have an interest in the future prosperity of the Jetty Road Glenelg precinct, you are invited to nominate for a position as a member on the Jetty Road Mainstreet Committee. There are 13 positions available for people with specialist skills in tourism, events, marketing, food and dining, economic development, property development, investment attraction, and/or urban planning and design.
The term of appointment will align with the current term through to 31 March 2027. Applications close 27 February 2025.
The Jetty Road Mainstreet Precinct is a defined precinct within the City of Holdfast Bay. A Separate Rate is collected from commercial tenancies to support and promote the precinct.
The Jetty Road Mainstreet Committee (JRMC) is an advisory committee of the City of Holdfast Bay formed under Section 41 of the Local Government Act 1999 and has been established to advise Council on:
- Enhancing and promoting the Precinct as a vibrant shopping, leisure, and recreational area with a year-round appeal to residents and visitors.
- Furthering the economic development of the Precinct and encouraging further retail investment in the Precinct.
- A consistent marketing and brand strategy for the Precinct.
- Initiatives required to operate the Precinct in accordance with the Council’s Strategic Management Plans.
- The Committee will also maintain communication between the Council, traders, landlords, tourism providers, consumers, and residents in the Precinct.
The JRMC consists of up to 13 persons with a maximum of nine persons who are either landlords or traders in the precinct and are contributing to the separate rate, two Elected Members and, if the Committee wishes to do so, two independent members.
About JRMC
Traders and landlords within the boundaries of the Jetty Road, Glenelg precinct who contribute to the separate rate are invited to nominate for one of the nine (9) trader/ landlord positions on the JRMC.
The term of appointment is for two years from 1 April 2023 – 31 March 2025.

Being a Member of the Committee is a voluntary role and presents an opportunity to become involved in the activities the Committee undertakes to ensure that the Jetty Road Glenelg precinct remains a vibrant shopping, leisure and recreational area, with year-round appeal to residents and visitors.
The JRMC meets at least once every calendar month, on the first Wednesday of the month from 6pm. Meetings are typically 1.5-2 hours in duration, with a comparable amount of pre-reading required. Additional workshops may be scheduled throughout the year.
Jetty Road Mainstreet Committee is a Committee of Council and as such, the names of those people nominating for a Committee position will become known to the public.
Nomination form
The term of appointment of all members of the JRMC will be subject to Section 41 of the Local Government Act 1999, coincide with the term of the Council, and (a) be for a period not exceeding two years.
Other Committee Members, known as the Perpetual Members of the Committee, are Elected Members from the Glenelg or Somerton Ward, as appointed by Council.
