Citizenship Ceremonies

Becoming an Australian citizen represents a commitment to Australia and its people.

The Department of Home Affairs processes all applications for Australian citizenship.

For most people, the final step in becoming an Australian citizen is making the pledge of commitment at an Australian citizenship ceremony. Applicants for Australian citizenship are generally invited to attend a ceremony within 3 to 6 months of the date their application is approved. The Department of Home Affairs will send a written invitation to the ceremony.

While the City of Holdfast Bay hosts Australian citizenship ceremonies, we cannot provide further information regarding the timing of your ceremony.

Further information on how to apply for Australian citizenship is available on the Australian citizenship website. All ceremony enquiries should be directed to Australian citizenship (details below).
