Christmas wishes from the community, for the community
If you could send a Christmas wish to your community this year - your friends, neighbours, teammates or the people you pass on your morning walk - what would it be?
More than 30 Holdfast Bay locals from a range of backgrounds shared their wishes for the community this Christmas in a special video created to help connect the community with cheer, optimism and hope.
Among those taking part were volunteers, local school students, business owners, community garden users, residents from Alwyndor, and local community group members.
Local resident Deb who took part in the video also featured in our Seniors for Seniors video shared in late 2022. She wished for people to be ‘present’ this Christmas, which was a sentiment also shared by local trader Tom, from The Seller Door.
“This Christmas, if you can give your presence, instead of presents...also your love, your empathy and most of all your time,” said Deb.
Tom said: “When we think about Christmas, I think everyone thinks about presents. My word is about being present in this time of year, slowing down, take some time to spend with family and your favourite people, and being present in this beautiful time of year.”
Alwyndor resident Anne wished for people to “keep cheerful”, while Beau from the North Brighton Community Garden wished that everyone could enjoy a “delicious” Christmas lunch.
