Brighton is lit up for Christmas, with fairy lights now adorning the trees along Jetty Road.

Lights have also been installed on the two palm trees that flank the Arch of Remembrance in a bid to cast more light onto the war memorial, and are now a permanent feature.

Councillor Jane Fleming, who brought the motion to Council to install the lights, is delighted with the result.

“Jetty Road at Brighton is now sparkling, and I’m so happy that we’ve been able to deliver this project for the Christmas season after listening to calls from the community to brighten up Jetty Road,” she said.

“The lights have not only enhanced the look of the street, but they’ve created a warm and festive atmosphere that is sure to be loved by local residents, businesses and visitors.”

“The lights added to the palm trees on either side of the Arch of Remembrance have helped to frame the memorial after dark and showcase its importance to our community.”

The lights on the Jetty Road street trees will be illuminated for this Christmas period with permanent street lighting to be considered as a new initiative as part of the 2025-26 Annual Business Plan and Budget process.
