Improving our stormwater system: Works in Somerton Park (mid-August to November)
To reduce the risk of flooding and protect properties, we’re working with the City of Marion and the Stormwater Management Authority (SMA) to implement our $30M Stormwater Management Plan. This plan will be implemented in stages over 10 years, according to priority and as funding becomes available.
This month, we’re starting work on increasing the capacity of our drainage pipes in Tarlton Street in Somerton Park – a $2M project jointly funded by the SMA and the City of Marion.
This work will start in mid-August and we expect it to finish in November.
There is heavy machinery involved in this work, so you’ll see some traffic restrictions on Bickford Tce (from Tarlton St to the coast end), typically from 7am to 5pm from Monday to Friday, during the works period. Some sections of Bickford Terrace will be closed and speed limits will be reduced to 25km/h for everyone’s safety.
Lucas TCS have been engaged to undertake the civil works, and will notify nearby residents via a letter (so check your mailbox if this affects you).
