Alert for pet owners
Fireworks may distress pets. Please ensure you make appropriate arrangements for your pet. In addition to the 9.30pm Brighton fireworks, there will also be fireworks in Glenelg at 9.30pm and midnight.
Will the jetties be closed?
Yes. The Glenelg Jetty will be closed from 12pm 31 December 2024 and reopen by 12pm on 1 January 2025.
The Brighton Jetty will be closed from 12pm on 31 December 2024 and reopen by 1am on 1 January 2025.
Can I bring my boat next to the jetty?
No. Due to the launching of pyrotechnics, there will be a 200m exclusion zone around the jetties.
Is the event licensed or BYO?
No. There is to be NO ALCOHOL.
All of Glenelg is now a declared dry area with signage in place. The area extends east-west from Brighton Road to the foreshore (including Holdfast Shores, Wigley Reserve, Colley Reserve, Brian Nadilo Reserve - Ngutinilla and Jimmy Melrose Park). The dry area means alcohol must not be consumed or carried in open containers within these boundaries, except within licensed premises.
Brighton Esplanade is a declared Dry Area. The dry area means alcohol must not be consumed or carried in opened containers on the Esplanade.
Additional police and security resources will be in place to enforce the dry areas.
Are businesses open for food and beverages?
Many local businesses are expected to be open. Check with individual establishments for details.
Jetty Road, Glenelg, will be a hive of activity with dine-in and takeaway options for dinner. Plenty of ice cream and dessert options make it the perfect place to spend NYE with family and friends.
People are encouraged to book dinner and NYE packages early to avoid disappointment.
Can I bring my food and drinks?
Yes, but please remember that the events are declared dry areas. No alcohol is allowed.
What toilets are available?
Public toilets are available at the Glenelg Town Hall, Brian Nadilo, and Jimmy Melrose Reserves in Glenelg.
In Brighton, there are public toilets in Bindarra Reserve.
Is there first aid?
Yes. Yes, a hub at the Glenelg Community Centre provided by St John and a roaming team for Brighton.
What if I lose my child or property?
The Sussex St Police Station at Glenelg will be operating extended hours on New Year’s Eve and is the best place to report any incidents, including lost children or property. Glenelg will also have an Information hub in front of the Town Hall.
What public transport is available?
The tram will terminate at Stop 15 on Brighton Road from 6pm 31 December 2024. Special purpose bus zones will be created on High Street for passengers travelling south and Anzac Highway (Wigley Reserve) for passengers travelling north.
In Glenelg, from 6pm 31 December 2024 until 4am 1 January 2025:
- Augusta Street, Glenelg, between Colley Tce and Torrens Square
- Colley Terrace, Glenelg, between Anzac Highway and Jetty Road
- Durham Street, Glenelg, between Dutton Lane and Jetty Road
- High Street, Glenelg, between Moseley Street and Partridge Street (this closure will be in place from 5pm on 31 December)
- Jetty Road, Glenelg, between Colley Terrace and Brighton Road
- Maxwell Terrace, Glenelg, between Brighton Road and Malcolm Street
- Moseley Street, Glenelg, between Jetty Road and Elizabeth Street
- Sussex Street, Glenelg, between Anzac Highway and Jetty Road (this closure will be in place from 2pm on 31 December)
- Chittleborough Lane, Glenelg, between Durham Street and Sussex Street (this closure will be in place from 2pm on 31 December)
Colley Terrace car parking will be restricted to the public on 31 December. Durham and Augusta Streets will be opened only to local traffic to ensure that Colley Terrace and Durham Street residents can access their properties.
In Brighton, from 6pm until 10.30pm on 31 December 2024:

Celebrate New Year's Eve with FREE travel on Adelaide Metro buses, trains, and trams from 5pm on Sunday 31 December 2024, until 6am on Monday 1 January 2025.
Patrons are strongly encouraged to take advantage of public transport when attending NYE at the Bay. Adelaide Metro provides public transport to the Glenelg, which is accessible by bus and tram.

Heading to NYE at the Bay? Plan your journey by searching your preferred route and timetable by using ‘Glenelg’ as your destination and selecting the date of travel, 31 December 2024 before midnight and 1 January 2025 after midnight services.
Bus
From 6pm on New Year’s Eve until approx. 4am New Year’s Day a temporary terminus will be established at Wigley Reserve (north side of Anzac Highway, west of Adelphi Terrace) due to the Jetty Road and Colley Terrace road closures.
Temporary bus zones will also be established on the northern and southern sides of High Street (east of Moseley Street).
Colonnades Centre Interchange to Marion Centre Interchange extended to Glenelg
733 & 734
- Several 733 & 734 bus services will extend from Marion Centre Interchange to Glenelg before midnight and from Glenelg to Marion Centre Interchange after midnight.

Tram
From 6pm New Year’s Eve until approx. 4am New Year’s Day tram services will terminate at Stop 15 Brighton Road due to the Jetty Road closures, with the last tram service departing Moseley Square at 5.50pm on Sunday, 31 December 2024.
Stop 15, Brighton Road is an 850 metre / 12-minute walk to/from Moseley Square.
Tram services will arrive and depart from the southern /Maxwell Terrace side tram platform.
Additional tram services will operate from 5pm New Year’s Eve until 5am New Year’s Day and will operate at the frequencies approximately during these times:
- 8-minute frequency from 3.30pm on New Year’s Eve until 2am on New Year’s Day
- 10-minute frequency from 2am to 3am New Year’s Day
- 20-minute frequency from 3am to 6am New Year’s Day
Tram supplement Bus Shuttle Services
Additional tram supplement bus shuttle services will operate between the City and Glenelg to supplement tram services between 6.30pm and 2.30am.
