Glenelg is Adelaide’s favourite seaside destination set on the long sandy white beaches of Holdfast Bay. Only 20 minutes from the city and five minutes from Adelaide Airport, Glenelg is a fabulous place to relax, explore and experience Adelaide at its best. Jetty Road

Jetty Road Glenelg is Adelaide’s favourite seaside destination just 20 minutes from the City you can lose yourself in the kilometre-long shopping strip filled with stylish fashion boutiques, jewellery stores, art galleries, homewares, gift shops and more.

Be sure to visit iconic South Australian stores Haighs and Bracegirdles House of Fine Chocolate for award winning handmade chocolates.

No matter what you’re looking for, there are over 300 businesses to choose from. When you’ve shopped till you’ve dropped you can reward yourself with a fabulous coffee, a glass of wine, or a meal in one of our many interesting cafés or restaurants, ranging from quirky and casual to formal dining. In summer, when the beachside setting heats up, it’s the ideal place to hang out with your family or friends.

You could spend a day on the beach or have a long leisurely lunch in one of our many restaurants. When the sun goes down, the fun continues as the street livens up with the many wine bars, cafes and restaurants offering live music and entertainment. With many of the stores open 7 days, a day visit can turn into a ideal one day holiday escape.

Jetty Road is open for business 7 days a week.  Many stores stay open late in the run-up to Christmas and late night shopping is every Thursday.

As we are a tourist area, a select number of cafes and restaurants will also be open on Christmas Day.  The majority of stores and restaurants are also open on all the public holidays, including Proclamation Day Tuesday 27 December and New Year’s Day and then normal trading hours take place on the New Year's Day Public Holiday Monday 2nd January.

GU Film House, Glenelg

The first of its kind in Australia, the new GU Film House in the eastern end of Glenelg’s Jetty Road precinct opened in March 2016 and boasts six cinemas with large leatherette seats, onsite licensed café/bar and an enticing mix of arthouse and blockbuster movies in a stylish, purpose-built cinema complex.

Located on Cowper Street (just off busy Jetty Road) the GU Film House is easily accessible, with convenient, under-cover on-site parking and close proximity to the Bay Tram, Glenelg buses and Partridge Street East car park.
